sol·emn/ˈsäləm/
Adjective:

1. Formal and dignified.
2. Not cheerful or smiling; serious.

som·no·lence
[som-nuh-luhns]
noun
1. sleepiness; drowsimess.
2. a tendency to cause sleep.

An epic journey of a composition, this atmospheric electronic musical excursion combines retro analog synthesizers and modern day signal processing to invoke the creeping atmosphere of a John Carpenter movie or the satanic version of a meditative new age meditation cassette tape. Influences range from Oneohtrix Point Never and Casino vs. Japan to Esbjorn Svennson and Ryuichi Sakamoto.

An improvised piece recorded in one 45-minute session by two Athens, OH-based electronic musicians: Alchemeleon (Kimball Challenger & Ibanez AD202) and Tales From the Trip (Sequential Prophet VS & Korg Microkorg).

The original audio was then mixed by Alchemeleon into the final piece presented here. More to come from this collab.

WE WERE GOING TO RECORD THIS AFTER A PARTY BUT NICK GOT DRUNK AND PACED AND BRANDON'S MIXER BROKE. THAT WAS IN RALPHTON. THEN THE ACCELERATOR STUCK IN THE LR VAN AND JACOB AND SHAWLEY ALMOST DIED. DUTCH GOT SICK AWHILE AGO AND ALMOST DIED, TOO. DANE TAPED THIS AT DROUGHT'S PLACE IN PITTSBURGH. HE PICKED UP IAN FROM LIL' HOT DOG'S. DEVON STOOD IN THE CORNER AND RECORDED INCRIMINATING CONVERSATIONS. WE DID IT WITH A LOT OF BORROWED EQUIPMENT. THE ALBUM, I MEAN. THEN STEVE DROVE A BUNCH OF US BACK TO JOHNSTOWN BECAUSE HE'S GOOD LIKE THAT. MIKE WAS LOUD AND LAUGHING THE WHOLE WAY BACK AND KEPT SAYING 'IT PROBABLY SHOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED. THIS THING SHOULDN'T BE HERE RIGHT NOW. YOU SHOULDN'T BE LISTENING TO IT. NONSENSE. TWO OF US SHOULD HAVE BEEN TOO BUSY WRITING POEMS. TWO OF US SHOULD HAVE BEEN TOO BUSY WATCHING FOOTBALL. TWO OF US SHOULD HAVE BEEN TOO BUSY CHASING GOOD-LOOKING GIRLS (NO.) TWO OF US SHOULD HAVE BEEN BUSY BEING DEAD, DEAD FOR CHRISTSAKES. BUT AFTER TWO ATTEMPTS, AND AFTER TWO DAYS, IT'S HERE. SOMEHOW. GLORY BE.'
